FAQ about IPL, laser hair removal

About Our Salon

Q. What is the difference between Ginza Calla and other hair removal treatments?
A. Based on many years of research and experience, we propose the kind of care best suited to each customer’s skin type, hair quality, hair volume and location on the body. Our methods are gentle on the skin and can depilate a large area in a single short session. Furthermore, we use our own unique moisturizing lotion, Bihada-Junbi, to thoroughly care for the skin. This helps to reduce any pain felt during the procedure, cooling the skin afterward and preventing it from drying out. The entire process is performed in a private room, allowing you to relax and enjoy yourself.
Q. Are the salons really women-only?
A. The treatment is performed in a private room, letting you relax with nothing to worry about.
Q. Can I be forced to join?
A. No. Ginza Calla seeks to address all customer requirements and anxieties with sincerity and respect our customers’ wishes at all times. Patch tests and counseling are also free of charge, so please don’t hesitate to drop in.

About IPL hair removal Treatment

Q. Is the hair removal treatment painful?
A. The amount of pain depends on the area being treated. It may also differ from person to person. Ginza Calla uses IPL hair removal technology, developed in Japan, and this technology reduces pain considerably compared to other methods. Furthermore, use of our Bihada-Junbi moisturizing lotion helps to further reduce discomfort and pain felt during hair removal.
Q. Can I get the hair removal treatment on small areas (e.g. fingers, upper lip)?
A. Ginza Calla uses innovative technology. We can remove hair from the fingers, upper lip, around the mouth and any other small or sensitive areas.

Suitability For IPL hair removal Treatment

Q. Can I get the hair removal treatment on tattooed skin?
A. We do not offer hair removal for tattooed parts of the body. We may also be unable to provide hair removal for the areas around any tattoos.
Q. Can I get the hair removal treatment during my menstruation?
A. We do provide treatments during menses (except on pubic areas for sanitary reasons); however, skin tends to be more sensitive (prone to reactions) during periods. Furthermore, due to hormonal changes during periods, the treatment may not be as effective.
Q. Can I get the hair removal treatment on sunburnt skin?
A. We also do not provide hair removal to customers who have been sunburnt. After getting sunburnt there is potential for the burnt area to react to the light exposure.
Q. Can I get the hair removal treatment if I am on medication?
A. We also do not provide hair removal to customers who are currently taking medicine.
Q. Can I get the hair removal treatment if I am pregnant?
A. We do not provide hair removal to customers who are pregnant. You can start treatment again once you have had at least your second regular period after giving birth.
Q. Can I get the hair removal treatment while breastfeeding?
A. Hair removal can be performed on all areas except for around the nipples, chest and underarms.

Q. Can I pay by credit card?
A. Yes. In addition to payment in cash, we also accept NETS, credit card and payment in installments. Please inquire for more details.

Notes Concerning Treatment

Care Prior to Treatment

  • Please prepare the area from which hair is to be removed. If the skin is in poor condition or you have an injury in the area, the hair removal will be performed once the skin has recovered.
  • Please refrain from using hair removal devices, eyebrow tweezers, hair removal gel, wax or any other kind of treatment that removes the roots of the hair. If the hair has been removed from the root, you will only be able to receive the hair removal treatment once your hair has started to grow back.
  • Use sunscreen in the daytime and avoid being out in the sun for extended periods.
  • Avoid getting sunburnt for at least a month prior to the treatment.
  • Do not use tanning lotion.
  • Avoid any activities that will increase your body temperature, including bathing in hot springs or entering a steam sauna.

Care During the Week After Treatment

  • Use moisturizing lotion on the area from which hair has been removed, maintaining the moistness of your skin.
  • Do not use any perfume, antiperspirant, exfoliating cream, α-hydroxy acid, skin whitening product or product containing alcohol on the treated area.
  • Red swelling, folliculitis, blisters and scabs may form after treatment. This can be alleviated by cooling the area. Please contact your consultant if the symptoms persist for an extended period of time.
  • Your skin will be more sensitive than normal after the treatment, so avoid overstimulation.
  • After receiving treatment, avoid getting sunburnt and use sunscreen if you are going to be exposed to the sun.
  • Avoid taking hot showers - take lukewarm showers and only lightly wash the area that received the treatment.
  • Avoid swimming or any strenuous exercise that causes you to sweat profusely.
  • Skin can easily dry out after hair removal treatment, so use moisturizing cream or other products to maintain moistness from the day after the treatment.
  • Avoid consumption of alcoholic drinks.

Notes & Cautions

  • As hair volume and quality differs from person to person, the timing of treatments may also differ.
  • If you have any of the following symptoms or diseases, elective hair removal treatment is not recommended.
    • Medical conditions (diabetes, heart conditions, etc.)
    • Medical history (history of alcoholism, epileptic seizures, etc.)
    • Allergies (atopic dermatitis, allergy to ultraviolet rays, etc.)
    • Scurvy (if any bleeding is occurring)

Girls aged 12 or older but not yet 21 (and who have had at least two periods) receiving hair removal treatment for the first time must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult whose signature will also be required. Hair removal treatment is not recommended in any case for girls experiencing puberty but who are not yet 12 years old.
Please do not hesitate to come for a free consultation if you are worried about whether your skin is suitable for hair removal; be it related to extreme dryness, burns, tattoos or plastic surgery. The consultants will assess your condition and advise accordingly.
